Biography

Ameen Safi is an Afghan American actor, writer, and visual storyteller based in the San Francisco Bay Area. His first name, Ameen (أمين), means “faithful” or “trustworthy” in Arabic - a fitting foundation for an artist devoted to honesty in performance and storytelling.

He works at the intersection of character, image, and narrative, with a growing body of work across stage and screen. Ameen studied both Theater Arts and Computer Science at San Francisco State University, equipping him with a rare combination of artistic intuition and analytical clarity - skills that allow him to engage deeply with roles, scripts, and collaborators.

Earlier this year, Ameen co-wrote and starred in a short film that earned him an IMDb credit and selection at multiple film festivals, including the Los Angeles Indie Short Film Festival, where it reached the monthly finals. As an actor, he is drawn to contrast - between stillness and intensity, tradition and modernity, vulnerability and power. He values range and specificity, and is most alive when inhabiting characters that ask big questions.

In addition to acting, Ameen writes original plays and screenplays and captures visual stories on analog film cameras. His creative language is shaped by Afghan music and culture, classical poetry, and the haunting precision of filmmakers like Asghar Farhadi (A Separation), Wim Wenders (Paris, Texas), and Paul Thomas Anderson (Magnolia). He is also deeply inspired by the surreal architecture of shows like Severance.

Ameen is open to relocation and travel, and welcomes connection from casting professionals, collaborators, and employers seeking a dedicated artist committed to craft, culture, and storytelling.
